LENTERA
Overview
Millions of students globally, and in particular Southeast Asia are excluded from digital and AI-powered education because connecting rural schools to the internet is prohibitively expensive.
LENTERA closes this gap by running an AI model entirely offline on low-cost hardware, turning a single device into a multilingual AI learning hub that delivers modern education at less than 5% of traditional connectivity costs.
Solution
LENTERA is an offline AI microserver that brings modern, AI-powered education to schools without internet access. LENTERA runs a large language model entirely on-device, enabling intelligent question answering, content understanding, and personalized learning (Duolingo-like experience) without relying on cloud services or internet connectivity.
The system combines a local AI engine with a 120GB+ offline educational library sourced from open datasets such as Wikipedia, Khan Academy, and LibreTexts. Students and teachers access LENTERA through a local Wi-Fi network using any phone, tablet, or laptop, turning a single low-cost device into a shared learning hub.
LENTERA goes beyond the traditional solution, evolving from static content delivery to interactive, AI-powered learning. Built-in multilingual support allows learners to study in their native languages, which is critical for rural and diverse communities across Southeast Asia.
What makes LENTERA innovative is its infrastructure-independent design. By running fully offline, using open educational datasets, and optimizing AI models for affordable hardware, LENTERA delivers the benefits of generative AI at less than 5% of the cost of traditional internet-based solutions. This approach allows schools in remote areas to leapfrog connectivity barriers and access the same AI-driven learning experiences available in connected urban environments.
Conclusion
LENTERA AI-powered education can be delivered fully offline and at a fraction of traditional connectivity infrastructure costs. Next steps include optimizing for lower-cost devices and finding support for launching pilot deployments with schools and NGOs in Southeast Asia, starting in Indonesia. In a world transformed by AI, we hope that LENTERA will bring learning & opportunity to the most unreachable corners of the Earth.
