PetInsureX solves this by using SEA-LION AI to simplify policies into friendly, multilingual explanations and automate claims through OCR, pet identity verification, and fraud detection. The result is a faster, clearer, and more trustworthy pet insurance experience for millions of owners across the region.

Solution

PetInsureX combines SEA-LION LLM with computer vision to make pet insurance simpler, faster, and more trustworthy for owners and insurers across Southeast Asia. SEA-LION reads complex policy documents, vet bills, and user questions, then translates them into clear, friendly explanations in Thai, English, Singlish, Bahasa Malaysia, and Bahasa Indonesia.

The system automates the most challenging parts of pet insurance. OCR and LLMs extract key details from invoices, while computer-vision models verify each pet’s identity and detect reused or manipulated injury photos; a common fraud issue in the region. A lightweight fraud-review engine then evaluates the claim and provides easy-to-understand reasoning so both insurers and pet parents know what’s happening.

PetInsureX is built with a mobile-first design, serverless infrastructure, and regional language support, making it easy to scale through partnerships with brokers and veterinary clinics. By combining multilingual AI, automation, and ethical design, PetInsureX turns a traditionally slow and confusing process into a smooth, transparent experience for millions of pet owners in Southeast Asia.

Conclusion

During the developer challenge, PetInsureX transformed traditional pet insurance workflows into an AI-powered, multilingual experience tailored for Southeast Asia. Early tests show that automated OCR + SEA-LION extraction can reduce claim submission time from hours to minutes, while our pet identity and injury-image checks successfully flag suspicious or reused photos; a common fraud issue reported by Thai brokers and clinics. User feedback from pet owners highlights that the multilingual policy explanations and chatbot assistant make insurance far easier to understand.

Our next steps are to run a closed pilot with veterinary clinics and partner insurers in Thailand, refine our fraud-detection models with real claim data, and expand SEA-LION’s language support to cover more Southeast Asian markets. We aim to onboard brokers, clinics, and regional insurers to scale PetInsureX across the region.

Team PetInsureX brings together deep expertise in AI, insurance, and real-world pet care logistics. The team combines technical strength with on-the-ground industry experience to modernize how pet insurance works across Southeast Asia.

Chonlarnatt P. is a Ph.D. candidate in Information Technology (AI) with an MBA from IBM Taiwan (GPA 4.00) and a background in Mechatronics Engineering. With seven years of experience as an AI business and financial consultant, he has led multiple award-winning projects, including “Best Hacker Taiwan 2017” and the Noc Noc AI Hackathon. He is also a certified Thai insurance broker, giving the team crucial insight into regulatory and operational realities.

Ploypitcha B. holds an MBA in General Management and is the founder of PetInsure, Thailand’s first online pet insurance platform. With a strong background in business strategy and marketing, she represented Thailand at the APEC App Challenge in Seattle in 2023. As a licensed insurance broker, she anchors PetInsureX with extensive market knowledge and a deep understanding of pet owners’ needs.

Navadol S. is a junior developer with a B.Sc. in Information and Communication Technology from Mahidol University. He brings fresh technical energy to the team, contributing to AI integration, front-end development, and rapid prototyping throughout the project.
